Vision & Policies

Darlene is committed to bringing residents to the table to co-create innovative solutions that ensure our schools are consistently and fully funded every year, while tackling our most pressing quality-of-life challenges. From the first days of Darlene's campaign, she has pledged to improve neighborhood quality for all Norwalkers through stricter blight enforcement, investing in parks and sustainability, protecting senior services, and advancing housing affordability. Darlene will foster a culture of innovation and efficiency to ensure that our plans are implemented and no longer sit on the shelf, allowing our residents to enjoy a comfortable and prosperous future  - built together, for all of us.

Education

Balance the budget through investigating additional revenue streams and advocating for additional school funding for Norwalk.

Budget

Improve the budget process through continuous collaboration with the Board of Education, and partnering with both CFOs.

Efficiency

The Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) and the last efficiency study, should be roadmaps for our future. Norwalk has invested time and resources to gather the information; it’s now time to implement them with efficiency.

Housing

Incentivize home ownership opportunities by diversifying our housing stock so that all people in every income bracket and stage of life have a home to be proud of.

Culture of Innovation

Empower the people of Norwalk to build the future of Norwalk through open communication and meaningful access to the Mayor's office to co-create solutions that enhance daily life.

Sustainability

Focused on equitable transportation alternatives, including walkability and better options to support children, seniors and people with disabilities.

Enforcement

Adjudicate blight cases faster while increasing enforcement under the new blight ordinance.

Economic
Development

We must grow the number of high wage jobs available in Norwalk through a blue ribbon advisory council, while refocusing the Economic & Community Development department back to attracting new business to Norwalk to grow our commercial tax base.
